The current economic model relies heavily on the overexploitation of natural resources. These resources are extracted, used and mostly discarded, leading to the accumulation of waste, aggravating climate change and environmental degradation.
The circular economy proposes a new model that minimises resource extraction and waste generation by promoting the concepts of reuse, repair and recycling. In doing so, it aims to maximise the value of resources and minimise environmental impact, leading to long-term sustainability for both the environment and society.
Quinorgan has adopted a new production approach based on the circular economy by recycling the waste generated in the manufacture of toe puff and counters. This innovative methodology not only reduces the use of new raw materials, but also drives the creation of new products made from recycled materials, in line with respect for the environment.
In order to improve control over this process, in 2020 Quinorgan opened a plant in Aspe (Alicante – Spain) dedicated to the recycling of plate leftovers. By reusing this waste, we are able to reduce the consumption of new materials by between 15% and 22%. This system promotes sustainability in our production process by reintegrating surplus materials into the manufacturing cycle, rather than discarding them.
In addition, in 2023, Quinorgan obtained 175 tonnes of raw materials through this recycling system. Thanks to this strategy, we have significantly reduced our carbon footprint and aim to reach our zero-waste target.
We are proud of our progress towards more environmentally friendly production and will continue to work towards our goal of achieving a truly circular economy.
